The holidays are in full swing, and that means multiple of you will be consuming cakes, cookies and other treats. We wish you well and hope you enjoy all of them! To keep your teeth protected during this sugar-heavy time of year, read over the following advice and how you could implement it. While we definitely like a good holiday treat, we’d advise you to be wary around starchy sweets including baked goods and potato products. Starchy foods are infamous for sticking between teeth, making themselves difficult to get rid of even with a toothbrush and a full two minutes of brushing. Additionally, foods with seeds can have the same effect. If you are offered chips, a baked treat or food with seeds, ensure you take them with a small bit of water to help rinse out the spaces between your teeth. Also, be sure (as you should always do) to floss between your teeth that day extra attentively. When the food debris are left to rest on your teeth, they will consume away at the protective layers and make cavities, so it’s important you get rid of any debris immediately.
